Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American performer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals including Wicked and Legally Blonde, and Hair. She received her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor as well as actress has worked with actors, directors, and directors on stage and screen throughout her entire career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani, Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. As a Hulu Original, the film will become available on Disney DTC's platform. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis which picked to Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceeding in nearly a century. Ashford starred for two seasons in the CBS popular comedy B Positive. She was also a guest on the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, in which she starred alongside the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford is the recipient of the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Also, she has appeared in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original role in the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for an Tony Award. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver currently splits her time between Los Angeles & New York.
